      How to Create a Subdomain

Subdomains are a fantastic way to help create sub branches of a business to help keep content in different locations, but under the brand.  While thetikisurfshop.com is the main organization, mail.thetikisurfshop.com could run all email communications, and shop.thetikishurfshop.com could be our shopping cart to order services from, and so on.  This also saves the cost of needing to purchase new domains for everything, as subdomain creation is free!  There are a few simple steps to getting your Subdomain(s) setup:

      1. Login to your cPanel account.

      2. Scroll down the cPanel until you come to the 'Domains' section, and from there select the 'Subdomains' icon.

      1. From the Subdomain screen you will be able to choose the name of your subdomain, and the Document Root directory of the subdomain during the creation process.  Be sure to note that the Document Root will be generated automatically when you list the subdomain name, and it will be based of the subdomain.  If you would like to change the root path to be something different, you will need to edit the path listed.

      1. Once you have everything looked over and ready to go, press the 'Create' button and the subdomain will be setup!  You can then use it when creating email accounts, websites, FTP accounts, ect.  Just like a main domain!
