How to Backup or Restore Account Content

Backing up your content is critical to any online operation.  There can be nothing worse than loosing all the hard work you invested in building a website, emails, and other data.  Fortunately, you have the tools to backup your content to your computer, external hard drive, or a location of your choosing.  Let's take a look at how to use them, not only to backup your content, but how to restore content as needed:

      1. Login to your cPanel account.

      2. Scroll down your cPanel home page until you locate the 'Files' section, and from there, select the 'Backups' icon.

      1. Once selected, you will need to choose the backup destination for the backup by selecting the dropdown menu.  Once you choose where to place the backup, you can enter your email address as well to receive a notice when the backup completes, and then select 'Generate Backup' to begin.

      1. If you don't need or want to backup your entire account, you also have the option to backup certain parts of the account.  Just below the full backup section in the 'Backups' menu, you will see a 'Partial Backups' area where you can choose to download just your home directory, a MySQL database, or email Forwarders and Filters.  Simply select the 'Download' button or the link of the database/email forwards you want and the download will begin automatically.  Also, to the right will be your Restore options.  You can upload any of your Home Directory, MySQL Database, Email Forwarders, or Email Filters you have saved and then restore them to your account, which will override the existing information with the same file name(s).
