How to Block IP Addresses

If you ever become aware of an IP address or multiple addresses attacking your site, even if it's just to bombard your site(s) with hits to cause high latency issues, you can put a stop to it by blocking the IP(S) responsible so they won't even be able to connect to your server.

Blocking an IP address from within cPanel may be necessary to stop traffic from a certain IP address from being able to access your services.
This could be for a number of reasons, such as high hit count in Analog Stats, Awstats, Webalizer, Raw Access logs, generally visible when your site becomes inaccessible.
While the issue is occurring, you can review visitors under Metrics > Visitors, and determine what IP or IPs are responsible.

To Block an IP Address

  1. Log Into cPanel

  2. Navigate to IP Blocker in the Security Section.
