How to View Site Activity Logs in cPanel
As your website grows, a great way to monitor the progress and activity is to keep an eye on statistical logs that record the amount of hits your site receives, amount of traffic being driven to your site, and other key indicators that can help you find ways to constantly improve the exposure to your content. From cPanel, there are programs automatically enabled that record these numbers for you to access! There are two main programs: AWStats and Webalizer that provide this information in different readable formats that you can choose which works best for you!
Procedure
Login to your cPanel account.
From the cPanel, scroll down until you find the 'Logs' section, then select either the 'Webalizer or AWStats' button.
Once you choose either program, you will be taken to a menu that lists the domains you have on your account. To view the stats of the domain, select the magnifying glass under the 'View' column.
If you Selected Webalizer, you will see a graphic showing a brief history of your site's activity on the web, and below are links you can select to view your stats in greater detail, from a month to month listing.
Once selected, the listing will generate a very large set of graphs, chats, and logs showing you exactly the hits, views, time, memory, basically everything you need to know about your site that happened during the month you selected. This information will be key to letting you know if your server has enough resources to continue supporting your site without issues, both now and during periods of growth, along with giving you an idea of how much content you need to edit to continue improving on your site.
AWStats shows the exact same information as Webalizer, but the formatting will be different. If you select AWStats you will be taken to this main window, as seen below, where your basic information will be displayed in the center of your screen, and your more detailed options of viewing information will be broken down and listed in a toolbar on the left hand side.
We automatically have these tools enabled for your use, so you can begin tracking this information as soon as day 2! The stat programs update each night with that days information, which you will be able to view the next day.
